Tax-free giving

PDF
download the gift aid form.

St John the Divine can actually claim money back from the UK government by getting a a tax refund on your gift. For every £1 you give to the Church, the Government will add 28 pence. You don't even need to promise to pay a certain amount regularly.

  • You must be a UK income taxpayer (higher rate taxpayers will continue to be able to reclaim tax at their top rate).
  • We must record what you give us (in complete confidence of course).
  • You need to sign a form that says you want St John's to claim the extra 28p per £1 from the Government

Filling in this form commits you to nothing. Print it off and sign it, and give it to the Parish Purse and Covenants secretary.

So what does this mean in practice? Look at this table to see how St John's can benefit.

This new system replaces the traditional covenants (where you had to commit to paying regularly for four years) and Gift Aid (where you had to give a lump sum of at least £250).
