We welcome for baptism all who live in the parish or have a connection with it. Baptism is the first stage on the Christian journey, when a child or adult becomes a member of the Body of Christ, the Universal Church. Normally adults are baptized and confirmed at the same service. Confirmation happens when young people or adults wish to make that conscious decision to affirm their Christian faith, and involves re-affirming baptismal vows, and the laying on of hands and anointing by the Bishop.
Enquiries should be made to the Parish Office
Celebrating the sacrament of marriage in church, with friends and family gathered to hear you make your vows and pray for God’s blessing, is the best way to begin married life. You can marry at St John the Divine if you live in the parish, have worshipped frequently in the church for at least six months and are on the church electoral roll, or if you have a qualifying connection.
To begin a conversation about being married at St John’s, please contact the Parish Office.
At times of bereavement and loss the church is here to support with comfort and prayer.
Please be in touch with the Parish Office to arrange a funeral or if you want to plan ahead for your own funeral.
