ADULT CHOIR

Our Adult Choir, a group of around 40 skilled semi-professional singers, has led choral singing at St John the Divine for the past 40 years, singing each week at Sunday Mass.

With a strong balance across all vocal parts, the choir maintains a high musical standard and tackles a diverse repertoire, ranging from Palestrina to Mozart to Messiaen.

A typical Sunday sees between 15 and 20 singers contributing to worship, with significantly larger numbers gathering for major festivals and special services throughout the year.

There is no minimum attendance requirement and no midweek rehearsal, making it particularly attractive to those whose commitments prevent them from participating every week. Despite this flexibility, the choir enjoys a strong sense of community, with members often staying after services to socialise.

Regular Sunday commitments consist of a rehearsal at 9:15am followed by the 10:30am service. New singers are always welcome, particularly those with some choral experience and enthusiastic to explore a wide range of sacred music.
